MBAMBA SARL ("we", "us", or "our") operates the MBAMBA Save mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.

By using MBAMBA Save, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information We Collect

Personal Information

When you register, we collect:

  • Your full name
  • Phone number
  • Date of birth (to confirm you are at least 18 years old)
  • Email address (optional)
Financial Information

To process your savings and transactions, we work with Campay, our payment partner. We collect:

  • Your MTN Money or Orange Money account details
  • Records of your deposits, withdrawals, and group contributions
We NEVER store your mobile money PIN or password.
Usage Information

We automatically collect:

  • Device model and operating system
  • How you use the App (features used, time spent)
  • Crash reports to help us fix problems
Group Information

If you join a savings group, we collect:

  • Group membership details
  • Chat messages within your groups (visible only to group members)
  • Your MBOA Trust Score based on your payment history

How We Use Your Information

We use your information for these purposes:

  • To operate the App and allow you to create savings pots and join groups
  • To process your deposits and withdrawals through MTN Money and Orange Money
  • To verify you are at least 18 years old
  • To send you important updates about your account and transactions
  • To improve the App and fix technical issues
  • To calculate your MBOA Trust Score
  • To comply with legal requirements in Cameroon

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We only share it when necessary:

With Campay Our payment partner needs your transaction details to process deposits and withdrawals through MTN and Orange Money.
With MTN and Orange Your mobile money operators receive transaction information as required by their systems.
With Your Group Members Other members of your savings groups can see your name, payment status, and chat messages. This transparency is essential for trust.
With Legal Authorities If required by law, court order, or government request, we may share information with authorities.
With Service Providers Companies that help us host the App and analyze crashes may receive anonymized technical data.

Data Security

We take your security seriously:

All communications encrypted End-to-end encryption between app and our servers
PINs never stored We never store your mobile money PINs
Limited access Personal data accessible only to authorized personnel
Regular reviews We continuously review and improve our security practices

No online service is 100% secure. While we work hard to protect you, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

Active account We keep your information as long as your account is active.
Account deleted Personal information deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
Transaction records May be kept up to 5 years to comply with Cameroonian legal requirements.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and personal data
  • Withdraw your consent at any time
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@mbambasave.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Children's Privacy

MBAMBA Save is strictly for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

If you are under 18, do not use this App. If we discover that a user under 18 has provided us with information, we will delete it immediately.

Parents or guardians who believe their child has used the App should contact us at privacy@mbambasave.com.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. When we do, we will post the new version in the App and update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.

For important changes, we may also notify you directly through the App or by email.
